DB WAVE – Don Bosco Web for a more Accessible and inclusive VET in Europe

The project fosters and promotes an educational response to increasing the employability and social inclusion of young people through VET

BACKGROUND:

Though the EU is on track to meet its 2020 targets on education, progress is uneven on employment and poverty reduction, and even more remarkable for NEETS and vulnerable youth. VET has a high potential in meeting the dual objectives of increasing employability and reaching social inclusion; VET providers through EU platforms could foster inclusion and employability though weak competences, low connection between EU policies and VET provisions on the field and lack of planning approach inhibit their full contribution.

OVERALL OBJECTIVES:

  • Consolidating the presence of Salesian VET Centres in Europe and strengthening international cooperation.
  • Developing the technical and operational capacities of key personnel working in VET through peer exchanges between different nationalities.
  • Increasing the relevance in Europe as a European network of partner and associated bodies working together to improve and disseminate the quality of Salesian VET both in formal and non-formal contexts.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES:

  • To systematize the peer learning between the partners of the project: we aim to establish a T-VET Hub of exchange and collective improvement while sharing different expertise.
  • To set a proper internationalization strategy: we aim to set up a proper strategy of internationalization that allows partners to systematically access the information and opportunities at EU level.
  • To systematize the interaction within stakeholders: we aim to involve in our action companies, universities, associations of learners, and other stakeholders.

HOW TO ACHIEVE THEM:

DB WAVE endorses a consistent four-folded strategy to impact on expected short- and long-term objectives:

  1. Promote institutional and network building to enhance DB VET accountability, EU relevance, capacity to endorse a planning and development approach and get engaged in EU cooperation.
  2. Organize comprehensive technical and operational capacity building of key VET staff through peer learning and ToT, and of teachers and trainers.
  3. Promote cooperative and mutual learning to develop, pilot and scale up at national/regional levels shared quality and inclusive VET tools and provisions.
  4. Create structured frameworks of cooperation to enhance engagement of VET providers in EU cooperation and mainstreaming of quality and inclusive VET in Europe.

BENEFICIARIES AND TARGET GROUPS:

  • 2500 students directly involved in the development and piloting of at least 3 tools of the project.
  • At least 200 trainers and 100 project managers involved in peer-review, peer learning and frontal training in 6 countries.
