SMX is one of the two Salesian provinces in Spain. Our province was created in 2014 by merging three smaller provinces. Nowadays, it includes schools from Catalonia, Balearic Islands,Aragon, Valencia, Murcia, Andalusia, Extremadura and Canary Islands. Our main headquarters are located in Seville.
The Salesian Province “María Auxiliadora” includes 59 Schools with 39,958 students and 2,742 teachers. Each of our schools offers one or more of the following levels: Preschool (157 units), Primary (335 units), Secondary (384 units) and/or Vocational Training (210 units).
The strategic vision outlined by our Province is structured around five pillars: strengthening our charismatic identity; organization and strategy; care of the Educational-Pastoral Community; inclusivity; pedagogical innovation.
SMX aims to help all of its VET schools provide international opportunities for their staff and students as an integral and permanent part of its activities.
In the development of this strategy, our team leaders encourage the networking among our schools, and offer them support in the areas of innovation, Vocational Training, European projects and Professional Training.
Most of our schools have previous experience in Erasmus+ programmes. Our schools usually take part in KA1 and KA2 projects, involving both teachers and students. As a province, we are one of the main partners of the DB WAVE project and also take part in the European projects meeting organised by the Salesian European network.
Three of our VET schools have been chosen to take part in the development and piloting of the different tools of the DB WAVE project. They are: Salesianos Trinidad, Salesianos Zaragoza, and Salesians Sant Vicenç dels Horts.
Salesianos Trinidad is located in Seville (Andalusia). It was founded in 1893 and has more than 1600 students. It offers Primary, Secondary, Baccalaureate and many different branches of Vocational Training. The school is highly engaged in Erasmus+ programmes and other international activities. Apart from sending students and teachers abroad, they have also welcomed a wide number of students and teachers from other European countries.
Salesianos Zaragoza is located in the city of Zaragoza (Aragon). It was founded in 1940 and offers Primary, Secondary, Baccalaureate and 26 branches of Vocational Training. The school has a wide experience in the field of Erasmus+ programmes and other international experiences throughout the different age levels. Vocational Training students are encouraged to apply for Erasmus+ internships and the school sends an average of 10 VET students abroad every year.
Salesians Sant Vicenç (Catalonia) was founded in 1969. From 1969 until 1999 it was only a vocational school and since 1999 it has been a secondary and vocational school. There are approximately 1000 students and the teaching staff is made up of 70 teachers plus the non teaching personnel. The school is located in a highly industrialized area near Barcelona and every year its students make work placements within companies of the area. Since 2008, the school has taken part in European projects to improve the students’ language skills and technical knowledge.
